Merry Christmas Eve

Hello Unie friends! I'm honored that you've taken the time to peek in during this magical time of year. I hope you've been enjoying a beautiful holiday season.
For today's project, I created this simple & cute Animal Cracker decoration set to decorate a little tree for my kitchen. When I first saw the kit, "Roar, Grr, Eek" I couldn't help to be reminded of my childhood favorite treats. of course, I had to toss in my husband's favorites, the frosted Circus Animals. All of the animals were stamped with Versamark and heat embossed. The pink ones are stamped on fun foam, as I didn't have the right shade of pink paper in my stash... the horror! Ha! :) The Itty Bitty kit called, "Snow Place Like Home" created the perfect box for my cookies to be stored in through the year. I stamped it out a few times, attaching one to the back as well. I cut one apart to create a bigger image, add dimension, a porch and second story window.

I also used Unity's "Mirror Stamping Tool" so that the animal ornaments would be double sided. I sandwiched a hook in between the two images. For the finishing touch, I added a mug of warm cocoa from Unity's kit of the month, When You Smile and the large snowflake from the kit of the month, Midnight Kisses. I'll be sharing another project with both those kit later this week as well.
The house box was created from Spellbinders and SU! dies.
I'm so glad you could stop by today! I hope you enjoyed this project and feel inspired. Don't forget to leave a comment each day this week! You'll be added to a drawing for a Unity Grab Bag prize. For an extra entry today, tell me a treat that brings up happy childhood memories.

  7. Wonderful way to enjoy the holidays days. When I was younger we frosted gingerbread men white with three red cinnamon buttons and tied them on the tree with red curling ribbon. You know what we kids had for breakfast Christmas morning. Pulled the tree down a few times trying to get one off that was tied to tight.

  9. That is super cute, and I love that tree in your kitchen. Mint parfait bar’s always remind me of Christmas. My mom used to make them all the time when I was a kid and they were stored in the garage where it was cold. I’d sneak out there all the time to get one. I just made some for my kids this week and stored them in the garage as well. I’ve created new lovers of this tradition

  11. Shannon, your kitchen trees is just exquisite! You've chosen the perfect stamp sets for ornaments and your mirror stamping idea to have it on the front and the back is genius! My mother used to make springerle cookies pressing the dough into an intricate carved board. I never cared for the taste of the cookies seasoned with anise but they were the most beautiful cookies I'd ever seen.

  14. Oh my gosh Shannon, this is so charming and I love that you got creative by using fun foam for just the perfect pink. That little gingerbread house is adorable too, and these ornaments will be treasured throughout the years. I'll have to give the heat embossing on fun foam a try because I would have thought it would make the fun foam distort when you use a heat gun on it. I'm guessing you need to be sure not to overheat it. Merry Christmas to you and your family!

  25. A treat that brings back happy childhood memories is raspberry turn-overs. We used to have them sometimes on Sundays at my great-grandmother's when we were growing up.
